As a lifelong learner, I like to challenge myself to go further with each new learning goal and to always be open to learning as much as I can about myself through my interactions with others. Albert Einstein once said: "Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school." I think he was talking about the traditional classroom when he made this statement. Learning a new vocation does require you to spend a little time in the classroom; especially, if you want to understand some of the theoretical principles behind a vocation such as truck driving. However, to learn competencies you must spend time practicing them which is not likely easily accomplished inside a classroom. When practiced enough, competencies and skills get stored in our brains as procedural knowledge. There is no denying procedural knowledge is one of the ways that humans actively demonstrate our education.
